A Collection of Historically Inspired and Environmentally Sustainable Floral Designs Created by Myself and Participants on Previous Workshops & Projects

A heart-shaped wreath, made by a student for a Valentine's Day wreath making class. It contains British seasonal greenery found in her garden and local woodlands.

In this, I use Californian seasonal flowers and roses in autumn colors. The greenery is from nearby trees. The flowers sit in a glass container in the basket.

Ahoy there, Matey. A commissioned crown in red, white, and blue made for a Yacht Club Festival. For this, I used seasonal flowers grown in the UK, and it was tied with raffia, making it sustainable and fully biodegradable.

A woven crown made of wheat and wild sunflowers growing in my parents' neighborhood in Colorado. A celebration of late summer. This wreath is part of an online class. This is biodegradable and sustainable.

This is a simple, yet elegant, fishbowl floral design. The flowers are in summer hues, and held in place with seashells, which takes the place of tape and foam. Added to the design is a piece of driftwood. Using natural materials that can be returned to nature is a great way to promote sustainable art.

I love unusual containers. This is a Japanese Ikebana container. The flowers are held in place with a kenzi and are tall to match a purple room. Using a kenzi is an alternative to floral foam. They are reusable and environmentally friendly.

Dahlia, mum, and Gerber Daisies make up this delightful floral design. No floral foam is used and the design is a classic asymetrical shape.

Recreation of a Roman Garden. A design commission for the Trust for Thanet Archaeology in 2020. I designed and helped construct this historical recreation. All the plants were gathered locally with the exception of the grape vine. This was funded by the Institute of Classical Studies, London.

A wreath I made for Valentine's Day in 2021. It uses desert greenery from Nevada, local to the area, and incorporates seasonal flowers grown in California. This is on a hanger wire base, which can be reused or recycled. The flowers can dry on the wire or be composted.

A beautiful modern design with roses in a clear vase. The flowers are spring seasonal flowers, with scented freesia. The vase can be reused.

Deep purple tulips supported by lilac branches, roses, Queen Anne's lace and willow in the vase. The flowers can be composted and are seasonal. This was made for a wedding show.

Simple and elegant lilac rose corsage embellished with greenery, blue flowers and Queen Anne's lace. It is held together with raffia and is completely biodegradable.

Modern tropical design. This has gladiola, tropical leaves, purple alliums, and willow branches.

This is a summer table arrangement made by Agnes B. for one of my design classes. It is held in place with racks taken from her yard.
